Sinking or Swimming? The crash, the crisis and Ireland‘s changing environment
Ireland faces into a post-Celtic Tiger period of economic recession and ongoing environmental challenges. This conference offers an opportunity to geographers to reflect on, and respond to, these challenges with a view to informing relevant contemporary debates and policy formulation. We invite papers from human and physical geography which speak to this research agenda.
In keeping with the inclusive traditions of the annual meeting, the conference also provides opportunities for new and established researchers to report on ongoing research in any area.
We strongly encourage graduate students to present research papers. First or second year graduate students, who may not wish/be in a position to present at the conference, are also welcome to submit a poster presentation based on their research activities.
The conference welcomes and promotes international speakers. Our idea of ‘Irish Geography’ is ‘unbounded’. We encourage papers that look at comparative issues, interdisciplinary questions, and critical approaches to a broad set of national and international challenges and concerns.
This year’s Key Note Speaker(s) will include Wendy Larner (Bristol) and Paddy Duffy (NUI Maynooth)
